This republic was formed by: Holland
(the most powerful province, then responsible for 60% of the Federal
Reserve), Zeeland (where New Zealand was named after), Groningen.
Utrecht, Friesland (the oldest part and partly founder of what today
is called Great Britain), and Overijssel. There was actually an 8th
province Drenthe but this region had no right to vote so it was not
mentioned with the other seven.
Each province had far going autonomy upon the others. This explains why today we are considered Europe's most liberal state.
Thanks to our fight against
the sea, we don't have 7 but 12 provinces today.
